Kerala, popularly known as “God’s own country” is a state in the south of India, which is unique in many ways. One characteristic is its unwillingness to accept things at face value. Everything is scrutinized, questioned, sorted and sifted … and then the seed is sowed in its own soil, nurtured with its own water and air, and the plant tended till it yields fruit of a rich new dimensions.

      So too with Ayurveda. It is practised all over India – but Kerala has evolved a métier of its own. Though the mother-textsof Ayurveda are the same, the Kerala system of treatment is essentially different and is seen to produce more effective results as well.

      Kerala has additionally been blessed with a soothing climate and an abundance of natural greenery with a wealth of herbs andmedicinal plants which are used extensively in the treatment processes. In fact, today Kerala is acknowledged as the focal point in India where this system of medicine is practised with single-minded dedication.
